I’m really done at this point. I’m a 23-year-old white male, and I’ve been suffering from constant urethral burning and frequent urination.

The burning gets worse during urination, after ejaculation, when I squeeze the urethra, or when I put pressure on it—I feel a stinging sensation. When I feel the urge to pee, the burning intensifies and I feel pressure in my lower abdomen until I urinate. After that, it starts building up again.

I’ve been to many doctors and tested for everything: UTIs, STDs, ultrasound, MRI, cystoscopy—no abnormalities found. My prostate is normal size, my bladder looks fine, and there are no leukocytes. I’ve been prescribed multiple antibiotics, alpha blockers, painkillers, antidepressants, and tried supplements like saw palmetto, aloe vera, and Graminex—literally nothing helps.

Not a single doctor has helped, even a little.

About a year ago, one doctor performed a cystoscopy and then prescribed 4 weeks of cefpodoxime 200mg twice a day along with alpha blockers and painkillers. It didn’t help. After that treatment, I developed a new symptom: an itchy-like sensation in my urethra. I thought it might be yeast, told the doctor, and was prescribed fluconazole (days 1, 4, and 7). That didn’t help either. I was later tested for yeast, and nothing came back.

Since then, I’ve had this itchy sensation alongside the burning. Sometimes, for reasons I don’t understand, when the burning slightly decreases, the itching becomes worse.

I’m exhausted and don’t know what to do anymore. The burning and frequent urination actually started when I was 13 years old, and I can’t keep living like this. Not a single doctor seems to understand what’s going on.

I also have a genetic condition, FMF (Familial Mediterranean Fever), for which I take colchicine (1 mg). I asked my rheumatologist whether this could be related, but she said no. Still, I don’t know what to believe anymore.

My life feels miserable. I can’t function normally, and I’ve been desperately trying to find a cure for the past 3 years. When I finally had money at 20, I started seeing doctors—but now 3 years have passed with zero progress. I honestly don’t know how I’m supposed to live like this.
