thinking of full mage suggestions?

ive been told shadow but im trying it out and so far im not impressed is shadow really good later or something? tried metal and it seemed super super strong was wondering from you guys that have experience if i went full mage what do you think? i thought about doing a dot build of metal,acid,fire
