Trying to get some services started for my gf who has autism.
She is on SSI for her autism and needs some help with daily living skills. She does not have an intellectual disability, just has not received proper support in the past. Trying to get her to independence but she’s not quite there. I see a lot of potential in her but she has been forgotten in the school system and beyond. She is in the ESTA program with Elaida right now and doesn’t have a clue about any of her Medicaid, SNAP, or what services she receives etc. She hasn’t been receiving her full SSI amount and we don’t know why. she is completely uninformed in her current program. She lives with myself and a roommate. I would like to try to get her onto Medicaid self directed services so I can be a “natural support” (community based DSP, I worked as one before) for her. I would like her to have a clear understanding of what services and benefits she receives. Does anyone know anything about this? (This post has been made with her consent)
