Trains freeze every couple of seconds and game lags

My game was completely normal until today, where trains freeze every couple seconds (I can still edit lines and build tracks, trains also start moving again after clicking on start/pause but freeze again soon) and lag spikes occur much more often. Happens to a brand new save too.

Anyone also experiencing this?
