Buprenorphine: Is it effective? How bad is the tolerance?

Basically title. I've heard some people say it's not as great as classic opioids, but tolerance seems to be slower and less common with this molecule. The thing I find most disturbing are reports about people's teeth getting destroyed on it, though that's probably secondary when the pain is really bad.
