What gauge of steel thickness should a Smith Machine home gym system use?

As the title says- I do not know where I got the idea from but I’ve been under the impression 10mm thickness is the thinnest steel that should be used for smith machines and power racks.

I have a hard time finding that info on the machines I am considering but I’m an old man just trying to keep his muscle and flexibility. I don’t need to squat 1000 lbs nor do I need to do anything more than maybe 330 lbs at a time and that’s for squats.

So does it even matter how thick the steel is in my limited circumstances?

Sorry to bother you guys and thanks!
