2014 hybrid trunk to rear seat access

i know access tot he trunk is not possible due to the battery in the hybrid 2014 but i noticed when i put the back cupholder down there is some soft membrane and seemingly nothing of importance there.

is it wise to saw or diy a hole in that membrnae so pass through is possible? it isnt damaging or structurally significant from the looks of it.

in truth i just want to safely put my fishing poles in the car
