Winter Hiking Questions on Antelope

Q&A

My 14-year-old and his buddies are on a hiking kick after he conquered Philmont.

They've done Weber County only-- Ben Lomond and Malans (they went came down in the dark). Next, they're set on Mt. Ogden but I'm making them wait until there's more daylight. I'm now looking at Frary as a compromise.

My fellow moms are concerned it's too difficult, harder than Ben Lomond, too long and it's too cold. I think it's cool but I haven't ever hiked it compared to the others, which I have.

Does anyone have an insight on Frary? The ranger said conditions are fine. Does the temps of 30-40 really have a major effect?
