Using a mouse with iOS and Jump Desktop

Hi, I'm using a iPhone 17 with the latest OS and Jump Desktop to use my mac studio, also running the lastest OS. So far so good. But, when I turn on assistive touch and connect my HID wireless mouse, I get a cursor and scroll, but no matter how I set up the configuration, I cannot seem to get the left mouse button to flow through to the studio. So, "clickIng" on things doesn't do anything. It is not often that I will need to see the full deskstop, as normally I just use Blink to get to a shell. But, on that rare occasion, a mouse would make things much, much easier. Anyone successfully using a mouse with iOS and Jump? (I can successfully use the mouse with the phone itself, just not with Jump.) chatGPT is failing me....
