FTM: Breastfeeding
Hi! FTM here (39 years old). I’m considering breastfeeding, with the plan to exclusively feed breast milk (nursing and/or bottle) for the first 6 months. After that, I’m wondering if it’s reasonable to stop breastfeeding and transition to formula while also introducing solids (puréed vegetables, etc.).
This timeline appeals to me because it aligns better with my maternity leave and return-to-work schedule. I’d like to begin formula feeding around the 6-month mark, when I go back to work. I know many mothers pump at work, but realistically, my job involves frequent back-to-back meetings (sometimes 7–8 hours straight), and I often can’t step away or even take lunch on time. Trying to fit pumping into that schedule would add stress I’d really like to avoid.
I’d appreciate any insight or experiences around whether this plan is feasible and what to expect. Thank you so much!
