A Young Professional
A young professional, let’s call her Maya, had been job hunting for months with little luck. She applied to dozens of positions, sent out carefully crafted resumes, and even tailored cover letters for every role. Nothing. Silence.
One day, frustrated but determined, Maya decided to try something different. Instead of sending a resume, she made a short, 90-second video introduction about herself. In it, she talked about her skills, her passion for the industry, and even threw in a little joke about how she’d “never ghost a team meeting.”
She sent it to the HR manager of a small marketing startup on a whim. Within hours, she got a reply: “We loved your video! Can you come in tomorrow for an interview?”
Maya went to the interview, and instead of the usual stiff Q&A, the conversation was full of laughter and genuine curiosity. They even asked her to pitch a mini marketing idea on the spot. She nailed it.
Two days later, she got the offer. When she asked why they picked her, the manager said, “Honestly? Your video made us feel like we already knew you. You brought energy and personality that no resume could capture.”
Maya realized that sometimes thinking outside the box and showing your true self can open doors that conventional methods can’t.
