Need help styling the space on either side of my fireplace (looking for unique ideas!!)

    Finishing Touches

I’m really struggling with how to fill and style the space to the left and right of my fireplace, and I’d love some outside design input. Photo attached is from when we first moved in, so the room has evolved since. Walls are now a soft cream. There’s a blue area rug with rust and tan accents. A pastel floral painting with walnut trim hangs on the wall to the left of the person taking the photo. TV mounted above the fireplace. Cream L shaped couch, with the back of it against the window. Dining table is in the room to the left of the fireplace. I’m stuck on how to thoughtfully fill the negative space on both sides of the fireplace so it feels intentional and balanced, but not overly symmetrical or generic. I’ve already tried some basic ChatGPT design ideas, and while helpful, they feel safe and predictable. I’m looking for something more unique and character driven. Open to furniture, built-ins, shelving, art, or styling ideas! I love texture!
