Linguistics BA

For anyone here who lives in England, or is just aware of A-Levels, I suppose - is English language A-Level necessary to do a BA in linguistics? To clarify, I don’t plan on doing an English language + linguistics course; only linguistics, or Spanish + linguistics (I’m planning on doing Spanish A-Level).

Most universities I’ve checked don’t have specific entry requirements, and those that do only ask for one subject out of a range; most of those asking for a MFL OR English language, which I plan on taking Spanish. But I’ve recently had people tell me I need to take English language, however, I do not think I will enjoy this.

So what should I do??? :/
