Are trans people still technically allowed to travel abroad?

During the Trumpocolypse we got those passport ban things again a month or so ago. But even if a trans person updates their passport but has to keep the assigned gender at birth marker, will they still be allowed to travel (aside from some awkward interactions with security)? Or are trans people just screwed now?
