Is using Cloud Management Gateway still necessary?

I'm at a new job dealing with their MECM installation.

We have MECM & Entra P1 for all the workstations.

I want to enable co-management to get a handle on the 10% of workstations that are offsite full time.

The last time I set this up was 2019, and I had to build out a Cloud Management Gateway to handle distribution of data.

Is that even a thing anymore? I still see documents referencing it, but it looks like everything I need is done straight from Intune with no additional parts.

All we're looking for is Patch / Policy / apps. No autopilot.

Thanks!
