Bamboozled by in-laws bait and switch
My in-laws graciously decided to spend the week between Christmas and New Years with us and promised to fill in the daycare-gap when my husband I are working. I’m a little frustrated at the complete lack of help that’s been offered so far. Yesterday, my husband and I timed getting the baby down for a nap and the toddler was playing peacefully when we wanted to go to the gym together. Right when we were about to get out the door, my mother in law asks us why we weren’t taking our toddler with us? Cue to us taking the toddler, him having a crazy meltdown in the car (as it always goes) and us having to skip the gym and bring him back home. This is has been a repeat scenario for us. Another time I was making breakfast for everyone, my husband was sleeping in as it was his day, and my in-laws watched me fight for my life with a wailing baby and a toddler under foot while trying to jungle breakfast duties. What gives? I’m slowly growing more and more frustrated as the days pass, because it’s turning into zero help while my husband and I are juggling full work and two kids plus making meals for 4 adults and 2 kids.
