AITA for supporting my mother
Im 17(f) and im turning 18 next month! Sorry if this post is confusing my mind is a mess rn. To paint you a full picture i was born in a middle class family mu dad working in a small bank and so did my mom. My mom eventually quit her job and started her own business of real estate and was really really successful at it. We soon were very rich going on vacations every year and we were the happiest family ever and i could tell mu friends and our relatives really envied us. My mom used to bring my gradma (my dads side) really nice cloth worth 200$ periodically and did all ancillary functions for my grandpa and used to take him to his doctor appointments and what not while my dad did nothing. My gradma was always a trouble in our asses but my grandpa was the sweetest human being anyone could ever have in their lives. I loved him and i could always feel his love. I was really close with my parents, both of them and also mh grandpa but never really my grandma because she is genuinely has ruined so many lives but thats a story for another day. As time went by after almost 10 years of us enjoying the rich lifestyle my mom was scammed for alot of money in 2022 which she borrowed. My dad lost his shit because he did not know the money was borrowed and we are still struggling to keep things afloat. My parents relationship has been very rocky since that year and its been really hard to witness it. I was never used to see my parents arguing but it all changed. My mom has gave my dads family so much over the years because she did not have family of her own because they all died in a car accident when i was 7. She just wishes her parents could watch her be successful, i mean who wouldn’t. But now that she needs my dads and my grandmans support they refuse and my dad has even turned violent on my mom several times. I understand he is under alot of pressure but so is my mom. I often take my moms side and that usually pisses dad and my grandma off. My grandpa passed away last year in january just after my birthday and i know im gonna miss him so much coming birthday. He was the only one who used to be there for me no matter what and used to wipe my tears and control the situation but my grandma wants my parents to fight it seems. I know my mom is in the wrong, i understand but now is not the time to make her more mentally weak is my opinion but my dad just does not care. I understand that his trust is broken but turning violent is not the option. AITA for supporting my mother still? My mom always still encourages me that dad is a nice guy and he just acts this way just because his trust is broken but if i was in his shoes i wouldve been heartbroken for a while and wouldve been there for my mom no matter what just keeping in mind all the nice things she has done for all those years but on the other hand my dad is constantly trying to paint a really bad picture of my mom and trying yo get me to hate her to which i never will but he sure does make me feel like an a hole for loving her so much.
