BF got me the wrong gift AITAH….

So i make a list for what i want for Christmas/my birthday every year to send to my bf (his request btw) and EVERY year he always tries to find a cheaper alternative to what I want on other websites. That I dont mind because I understand wanting to save $, but i always make it a point to say that if its too much and you cant find the exact thing to just not worry about getting it.

So I sent him a link of shoes I wanted that were $90 and told him if they were too much don’t worry about them because I can always get them myself later. I wanted this pair as opposed to the cheaper version bc they more durable/cuter. Todayyy the shoes are supposed to arrive and he rushed outside to get them, opens the box for my gift mind you and just hands the shoe box to me. NOW I already KNEWWW what was up bc the box it was shipped in looked like a box someone would ship if they were selling something on ebay/depop. I open it and boom…the shoes I specifically told him that i didn’t like lmfao. I get annoyed instantly and tell him if he didnt want to get the other shoes bc of the price he didnt have to, but i DID NOT want the shoes he got bc I know they wont last and will hurt my feet. I told him how annoying this is especially when I listen to him and get him exactly what he wants without even needing to receive a link from him let alone a whole list. He completely shut down and didnt want to talk.

I’m really not trying to come off as ungrateful and he did get me other nice gifts but i really just don’t get the point of saying you’ll get something just to cheap out and get something i said I didn’t want. More than anything it makes me feel like he doesn’t listen to me at all especially when I know im not being demanding or fussy at all. It feels like he just gets me gifts to stroke his ego without really paying attention to me. AITAH?
