Why does no one want to listen to Mormon missionaries anymore?
Hi everyone,
I’m a former Mormon who served a two-year mission in Melbourne, Australia about five years ago. It was honestly one of the hardest experiences of my life.
We spent 8+ hours a day stopping people at bus stops, knocking on doors, and trying to start conversations with strangers. Most of the time, we were met with cold reactions, quick rejections, or doors slammed in our faces. I didn’t have a single baptism during my entire mission.
Is it because places like Melbourne are highly secular?
Is it because people are generally suspicious of organized religion?
Or is it something about Mormonism itself that makes people especially resistant?
