Substrate

I currently have fine sand for my axolotl tank but it feels rather difficult to keep it clean. What other options are there to make sure he has grip but is easier to clean? I know tiles are used but I’m not sure where the best place would be to get them and how to get them cut. I also like the idea of Lego flooring but is that a safe option?
