Locked out of Apple ID and Mail app after setting up new iPhone

Unsolved

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a new iPhone and I’ve been running into a few issues during the first few days of using it.

At first, the iPhone asked me to log in with my Apple ID (which I already had — it’s linked to a @hotmail.com address), and I was able to log in successfully. Then it asked me to create an @icloud.com email address. I did that, but I kept my Hotmail address as my primary email.

After that, the problems started.

  1. Cannot access my Hotmail account in the Mail app

I’m trying to add my @hotmail.com account to the Mail app so I can check it easily. When I try to log in, the iPhone redirects me to the Microsoft website, where I’m asked to enter my email address and password.

After doing so, I get a message saying that I’ve tried too many times with the wrong password or account, and that I need to verify I’m not a robot by entering a CAPTCHA code. I do this, confident that the email, password and code are correct, but it still doesn’t work.

When I try to reset my password, Microsoft says it will send me a verification code via SMS, but the code never arrives. As a result, I’m completely stuck.

What can I do?

  1. Cannot access my Apple ID on my iPad

I also have an iPad that I hadn’t used for a couple of years. Today I turned it on and it was already logged into my Apple ID, but it asked me to re-enter my password.

I tried, but it said the password was incorrect. I then selected “Forgot password” and changed it using my iPhone, following the steps shown on the iPad. However, when I entered the new password on the iPad, it still said it was wrong.

After a few attempts, the iPad blocked my account due to “suspicious activity” and told me that I would receive instructions by email within 24 hours.

Can anyone explain what might have happened and what to expect next?

I also tried to reset the iPad, but it still asks for the Apple ID password, so I can’t complete the process.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply!
