Lobster on the Side
Am I the only one who actually wanted more table tennis in this movie? To explain the title I’m equating this to ordering lobster as a side dish rather than the main course. Kinda like how the actual sport is in this movie. I saw someone say that it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that Marty beat Endo when he said it was because of the paddle and how it makes no sound. They even explain that Endo lost his hearing and had to learn the rhythm of the game. I think it was necessary for us to see Marty do some sort of training that would help him deal with this weakness against Endo. Whether it was playing against someone using the paddle, him using it to understand how it works, or studying Endo play or something. I get that the point is to show how self destructive he was but I just didn’t enjoy the mafia dog plot as much as the actual table tennis scenes
