I have terrible GERD and I found a pain reliever that works

Friends, I'm new to GERD and have only been suffering for a few months, but it's been filled with anxiety and fear of having an attack as it happens quite unexpectedly, and I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it. My pain is right in the middle of my chest and right under my ribs. I feel like my belly swells and the pain is pretty excrutiating. I'm on patoprozole, but I still get the attack sometimes. I had an attack in front of a friend the other night and she said try taking more than the 2 tums you just took and drink some sparkling water. I took a total of 4 tums and took a giant swig of sparkling water and it went away IMMEDIATELY. Give it a shot. I'd love to hear if it worked for you. I asked AI why it worked and it said

"Tums are calcium carbonate. They neutralize stomach acid on contact, so if the pain was driven by a sudden acid surge, they can work fast. Sparkling water can help in two ways. The bubbles increase swallowing and saliva, which naturally buffers acid, and the pressure can help move acid back down into the stomach instead of lingering in the esophagus.

The fact that it resolved almost immediately strongly suggests the pain was acid related rather than something like inflammation or muscle strain, which would not respond that fast.

A quick note of caution. Four Tums at once is within occasional use for most people, but doing that often is not ideal. Frequent reliance can signal uncontrolled reflux and excess calcium can cause other issues."
