Help me with my Forerunner 970 FOMO

General Information

I was going to buy a 965, partly because the 970 is the new watch and the used 965s that are available are now a reasonable price.

Then I found someone on facebook marketplace who was willing to sell me a 970 at a great deal. It was more than I wanted to spend, but then I looked more closely at what I'd get with the 970 and I started to think, having the latest tech, sensors and a flashlight would be really nice to have, so yeah lets spend another $100 on the 970, its worth it!

But... then something happened with the payment, it never went through, the seller canceled, and then ghosted me. Now I cannot find a similarly priced 970, but I want one more than the 965.

How do I deal with this fomo? Should I just cringe and buy the 965? Or cringe and buy the 970? Or should I get the 965, and then in a year or so upgrade to the 970? This method of Garmin of pricing these watches and rolling out incremental tech is driving me a little nuts, and I dont know how to best position myself. If I get the 965 now, and wait a year until the 970 is more reasonably priced, then re-selling the 965 will result in a fairly large depreciation itself.
