New Therapist! One of their specialties is in psychosis disorders!

Progress / Good News ☀️

So this therapist, they are specialized in psychosis and schizophrenia, which is someone I think I need after my last therapist, who specialized in DID and made my psychosis worst by (COMPLETELY UNINTENTIONALLY) exaggerating the mix-up and engage in the psychosis more than I should of.

This time, I am seeing someone who is specialized in the following that is also my issue: Chronic Pain, Depression, Emotional Disturbance, Family Conflict, Men's Issues (idk I'm a trans man, so we'll see what comes out of that), Psychosis, Sleep or Insomnia, Spirituality, Trauma and PTSD.

That's like, half the list, and I think I align with more, but it's more secondary issues relative to these.

Post therapy notes:

Super approachable! I, an oversharer, shared a lot about myself for a first session. He cautiously shared about about himself, like he went to college for similar stuff as I did, and some experience about college life. I divulge a bit about my trauma at surface level (what I consider surface anyway), and he took that information professionally. He called me insightful which is affirming considering having a reality distorting disorder! The thing I have mixed issue on is that he said "it's like looking in a mirror" in terms of (assuming) how similar we are, minus age difference (Gen X at youngest vs older Gen Z), but I think it chalked up to how I mirror people when I don't know someone. What I liked is that he seemed more educated on psychosis issues, like way more than my past therapist; I was explaining how my paternal grandma was religious schizophrenic and seemed to understood that before the gentle prodding on clarification. It was great! The only thing that happened that was negative was that my internet bill was behind and it cut off my internet at a bad time so we switched to phone for the last few minutes.
