If the thorns didn’t lock in the Elden Beast, what would the Elden Beast look like / be doing during the game?

I am much more of a novice compared to many of you here in terms of lore for ER yet I still do try to follow it closely as it is layers upon layers upon layers

One of these layers that has me wondering (which I didn’t seem to find in this subreddit) relates Elden Beast. If it wasn’t trapped by thorns what would it be doing? It’s job is to ensure the Greater Will is being carried out yet we see it just stuck in there seemingly hoping for the best ever sense it crucified rad. If it wasn’t stuck in there, would it be hoping around trying to fight us? What do you think its participation in the story would have been during our tarnished’s journey?
