stranger yelled at me in public
i just got home from the gas station and while i was pumping air in my tire i realized i needed my car closer to the pump to reach my last tire. maybe i shouldn’t have but i just left the nozzle on the ground next to the pump and i guess a guy saw me do that and he yelled at me “yeah fuck everyone else just throw it on the ground” and called me a jackass. i yelled back that i was just moving my car closer and he called me a jackass again and left. at first i found it funny and was proud of myself for that as well as the fact that i yelled back at him at all, but after maybe ten seconds after i got in my car i started crying. i’m always terrible with confrontation, particularly with people i don’t know i really don’t know how to navigate it. i project onto other people this weird authority over me i guess it’s an insecurity thing but it makes me feel and look incredibly pathetic. i think maybe if someone else that was at the gas station acknowledged what happened or told him off it would have made it less hurtful to me, but at the same time i don’t expect that from a stranger. i feel really really alone recently, and this interaction really solidified that. i feel embarrassed sharing this with other people i know to make me feel better about it so i thought i would just vent here.
