Competing in FM26

In an online save, both my brother's and my own forwards are consistently underperforming their xG by like 7 per season. In the game, you often see them running onto the goalkeeper 1v1 and not even hitting the target, or hitting the post from 5 yards out with no one in goal.

Keep in mind, we in our 4th season now and we've had top forwards, like Harry Kane, J. Alvarez, Soulè, Ekitike, Kvaratskhelia, etc. Somehow there's always one forward that outperforms their xG by a mile but the other 3-4 struggle.

So how are we supposed to compete in the prem, when the AIs top strikers are consistently outperforming their xG by a factor of 1.5 - 2 over a season? Especially if we don't want to cheese the game with strikerless formations.

It just seems silly to me to be number 1-2 in xG every season, dominate every game and somehow still fall short all the time - and usually one of us completely sh*ts the bed and finishes like 6th or whatever.

Has anybody experienced similar stuff over multiple season and is there any solution to this? It's really starting to get annoying at this point...
