Controller inputs changing

Hi all!

I have a odd one here, whilst using joystick tester, my sim racing wheel will change inputs based on the degree of rotation it is turned. For example. A button will register as #16 then when turned it will register #45.

I can create some consistency by holding my Gx12 cable in place, but I am not sure how a faulty cable could cause these issues.

I just wanted to check to see if this is even a possible cause of the problems, or if I am leading myself down the wrong path here?
