Why is everyone obsessed with imagining that the show is lying to them in one way or another?

It's all in the title.

This show is fascinating and full of wonderful shades of grey and philosophical questions to explore - but barely anybody seems to be doing that. In fact barely anybody seems to be engaging with the text at all. Everyone is blatantly ignoring the text and coming up with any and every excuse they can to discard it in favor of imposing their own much worse story that is less grey and more closely aligns with traditional zombie and alien invasion movies.

"The Plurbs aren't REALLY happy!" "The Plurb actually CAN lie just look at <thing the plurb did to comfort someone>" "The Plurb is secretly an alien mind and all the people are dead!" "The Plurbs are MANIPULATING Carol, they're abusers and evil!" "The Plurbs are a deep space extermination system for the aliens from kepler 22b who will be here in the season 3 finale!!!!!"

No. Stop it. Just stop it. You are writing and engaging with fanfiction instead of the show. There are plenty of valid ways to take either side of this conflict but for god's sake do so with information the show actually tells us and stop looking for some hidden twist or secret to totally re-contextualize the entire show.
