You look like you need it

I went to a grocery store to buy batteries. My Tv remote was dying . As I was paying for them, the cashier asked me this:

“Do you want free dinner?”

“What?”

“Do you want free dinner ? Over here. It’s a beef stew meal kit. You must cook it today.” There was a meal kit that expires today, on the service counter, currently stamped with $4 off sticker.

“Uh.. sure . It’s free? But why?”

“You look like you need it”

I did end up taking the meal kit. But on the way home , I wondered if I looked like $hit today. Or if I also looked disheveled everyday. I am not in financial distress, but I look like I am?? Or perhaps I have a sad widow face that would be resolved by beef stew?
