Residency & Police visit: Check of residential property
I have moved to Brussels and found a place to stay in a former commercial shop that has been converted into an Apartment. It is really well done with everything needed, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, windows, etc , so no complaints. Also from a safety perspective its seems good.
I have to register for residency with the Commune and I read this entails a police visit.
I am not sure the landlord has ‚officially‘ registered the conversion with the city. And also not sure if it follows all the official requirements of a residential place.
Therefore my worry is that this will cause issues when the police comes to check.
Question: Does the police just check that I live there? Or do they also check residential regulation, etc?
Thanks!
