Can you get used to progesterone if it leaves you feeling wired??

Hi everyone. My primary reason for taking HRT is chronic insomnia - I can fall asleep fine, but I wake for the day after 2-3 hours. It’s been like this for 5+ years. Unfortunately I have severe Crohn’s disease, and poor sleep is a major trigger. The only thing that helps is an antihistamine but they are only supposed to be used short term due to increased dementia risk. I’ve been using it for 3 year-ish, as without it my Crohns goes to shit and I can’t leave the house.

I started HRT 3 weeks ago after an acquaintance told me HRT sorted out her sleep issues. I’m on continual estrogen (0.05 patch) and cycling progesterone x last 12 days of the cycle. The estrogen has improved my mood well, which I didn’t even realise was an issue until I found my smile again. But the progesterone is a problem. I took it x 2 days orally and it left me feeling totally wired, ie wide awake and on edge until 4AM. I then tried it in the morning to see if that was any better - it took till half way through the next day for it to wear off and my body to calm down. I’ve since been using it vaginally, which seems better, though I still need to take the Nytol to be able to get any sleep.

So my question is, for those who felt completely wired with progesterone, did it calm down once your body got used to it?
