“Feeling good about where the Sharks are headed — what do you think?”
Hey everyone — appreciate the positive response to my earlier post about what Draymond Green said regarding Macklin Celebrini. I’m relatively new to Reddit and just wanted to say hello to the r/Sharks community.
Big credit to Mike Grier for how he’s built this roster, especially on the blue line. Guys like Leddy, Klingberg, Orlov, Desharnais, and Liljegren may not all be long-term pieces, but they’ve bought valuable time and stability for young defensemen like Dickinson, Mukhamadullin, Laroque, and Luca Cagnoni to develop properly.
The forward signings of Jeff Skinner, Adam Gaudette, and Philipp Kurashev were smart, low-risk moves, and when you pair that with young talent like Celebrini, Smith, Missa, Graft, and Eklund — plus the depth in the Cuda system (Musty, Bystedt, Chernyshov, Halttunen) — the future looks bright. If they somehow land Gavin McKenna in next year’s draft, look out.
A winning team needs the right people in key roles, and elite goaltending matters. I think Askarov ultimately becomes that guy.
At the start of camp, I predicted San Jose would be a surprise team this year. So far, I’m liking that call — curious what you all think. Glad to be part of the Sharks community.
