Is this a reasonable and a feasible career path?

Hi everyone, I am currently a sophomore majoring in CS. I strongly believe that automation and robotics is the future, which is why I wanted to get started as a Backend Engineer and segue into AI Systems Engineering and work on the software aspects in a biotech or a robotics company. I don't just want to be another web developer, since the web development market is oversaturated already and I wanted some advice on how doable my intended path is? I was thinking of breaking into the industry as a backend dev at an AI startup or even some small company and in a year or two, after I am well established in the tech corporate culture, segue into Systems Engineering. I asked ChatGPT and unsurprisingly it just keeps pandering me with no real criticisms and so I wanted to get some input from people in the industry. Ultimately, I'd like to design and work on the software aspects of robotics. Unfortunately, I don't have the technical jargon needed to clearly describe my aspirations but any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
