Switching to Banking or Insurance in Canada - What Certs Do I Need?
I’m a 36 y/o female and work in transportation/logistics, the work is sometimes tough (especially in the winter). I want to switch careers into banking or insurance here in Canada. I have no direct experience.
I need clear, practical answers:
- For entry-level banking jobs (not just teller), what’s the one certification I should get first on my own to help get hired? Is the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) the right one, or something else? What are other entry-level back office jobs I can apply for?
- For entry-level insurance jobs, a friend of mine told me to try getting a RIBO license, is it realistic to get a license on my own before applying? In Ontario, does getting the RIBO license first make sense?
Is this a realistic plan: get the certification, then apply for jobs? Or should I be trying to get hired first? I've honestly been apply to entry-level positions with no call back. Just looking for straight advice on what credentials to focus on. Thanks.
