I built a smart-contract escrow app so people can actually use crypto for real-world purchases
Hey r/startups_promotion đź‘‹
I’m the founder of Shake Defi, a mobile app that lets buyers and sellers use crypto with built-in escrow and buyer protection.
One thing that always bothered me about crypto is how hard it is to use outside the internet. Paying for a used car, hiring a contractor, or buying expensive goods feels risky because once you send crypto, it’s final.
So we built Shake Defi to solve that.
What it does
- Buyer locks funds into a smart-contract escrow
- Seller delivers the good or service
- After the escrow period, funds are released automatically
- If something goes wrong, the buyer can open a dispute and request a refund
- No banks, no chargebacks, no middlemen
It’s non-custodial, runs on Ethereum L2 (Base), and uses Coinbase for on/off-ramping so users don’t deal with private keys or weird UX.
We’re starting with real-world transactions like:
- Used cars (FSBO)
- In-person sales
- Services with delayed delivery
The app is live, and we’re actively looking for:
- Early users willing to test real transactions
- Brutally honest feedback on UX, pricing, and trust
- Founders who’ve tried (and failed) to use crypto for real commerce
If you’ve ever thought “crypto should be usable like a credit card, but safer”, I’d love your thoughts.
