I don't have hope for our future anymore.

This last year has been a living hell. The mans been in the seat of power for less than a year and has not only halted, but reversed so much profress that we've made as a society. He's emboldened the racists, the homophobes, the straight up psychopaths. ICE illegally kidnaps documented and non-documented people. He condones war criminals and talks down on anyone with a modicum of kindness. He ignores the law over and over again. His name is plastered in the files, social media cares but the people in charge dont.

His followers dont care. The rest of the government does nothing. Democrats aren't doing anything about it. Republicans aren't doing anything about it. No impeachment, just getting called out as if he actually cares about how people view him. I keep waiting to see that theres been some huge riot, some sort of physical resistance against him; nothing. I think to myself "well yeah, no matter how hard life is right now, nobodies gonna actually take a fight to him." But then I look at other countries. Recent uprisings and coups. We're all cowards. Nothing is going to change. Diplomacy wont work against facsism. Facsists have only ever been brought down one way and we are ALL too afraid. Of what we could personally lose, of what our families could lose. So we keep moving, day after day, week after week.

You think after 4 years this will all be over? Wrong. He'll find a way to run again. He'll find a way to not have to. Maybe we'll all be dead because he and his administration only care about their power. We think to ourselves "The good guys will come out on top. They always do!" But this isnt a movie or a book. This isnt a show or a game. He's become more than a man. He's a godlike figure to his followers and they wont care what he does. He already has people saying that even if the files aren't fake, it's not that big of a deal compared to xyz. "At least hes not forcing kids to be trans" "at least he's not taking god out of school" "at least he's not woke". And when he's gone, the remnants of his administration will still be there.

The pendulum has swung back. Whether you accept it or not, to the left at least, the last 15 years has been all about trying to do the right thing as much as possible. But now the bigots and assholes have had enough and no longer care about being better. They dont care about whats right or true. They just want "revenge". They want to make the left hurt and unfortunately, he is the avatar of their will. Whatever negative consequences that may come from it is just collateral damage and we will all pay the price.
