P bass or stingray?

I’d like to start playing bass but I have no idea if I should get a p bass or stingray. I’m interested in playing pop punk, “emo”, and post hardcore music, inspired by bands like fall out boy, mcr, p!atd, pencey prep, circa survive, thursday, and other bands similar to those. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews for both of those basses but I’m just not really sure which would work better for me, I’m trying to keep my budget for the bass under $550. (Also if anyone has amp recommendations that are under $200 please tell me!!)
