If you haven’t kept up with my experience regarding the LSD, (I don’t blame you lol) here’s a quick recap:

• Got my fluid changed at the dealer at the recommended interval per the maintenance schedule (60,000km/36,000 miles) and also due to suspicion that my LSD was failing or on it’s way out (slight chatter)

• Not to my surprise, LSD immediately failed and started groaning, grinding and shaking, all while turning in the dealership parking lot. Told them I felt unsafe to drive the car home and that they should have tested it before. Got me an uber home and I got a loaner from them the next day

• After my LSD got replaced, it didn’t make the chatter I had on my original one (pre-replacement) but it had a howling sound on turns. No groaning though. Sound eventually got worse than my original LSD that had 64,000km on it, and it would also shake and tremor a bit on slower tight turns (gear 1-2). The symptoms were the same as when my differential failed, just not as noisy or bad.

• I brought this up to them and this is where they actually finally listened to me or at least they figured out the issue. They have authorized the use of Redline (without my suggestion) and doing a flush on this replacement LSD with it. If the noise continues, then they will replace it. Seems like they are tired of replacing LSDs and e-LSDs (GV70) over and over again, losing a lot of money. Although this is still not technically a recall, my service manager told me that everyone dealing with this issue will go through this procedure at least in Canada, so it basically is a soft recall.

•Before and after getting my LSD replaced, I explained everything to the service manager there, how the issue is the OEM fluid and the solution is some high quality gear oil such as Amsoil/Redline, how I suspected it would fail using OEM fluid and she believed me and told me she heard there may be a recall on this soon due to all the LSD failures and issues. This was done at Genesis Markham (GTA, Ontario)

Hopefully it goes away but them finally using some good aftermarket fluid is a big step in the right direction. Even if this one needs to be replaced, I believe that a new LSD, accompanied with a flush and fill with Redline should solve the problems. Will provide an update.

(Wish they took this approach with the cracks on my headlight though, which they are refusing to warranty due to cracks on it, even though the cracks are 99.99% due to improper installation/ a manufacturing defect as others even in this sub have had the same issue…)
