looking for the best option for a small set for taking to just run trains when staying away from home

I've done dome digging ant im thinking about Hornby tt-120 branchline freight train set as its small and not terrible expensive while being open so add more locos, rolling stock and track for different spaces i may have available. does anyone have any other suggestions?
