Mixing yarn types in sweater - wool and alpaca
I am currently working on a project to enter into a local wool festival, and I’m running into an issue.
I am trying to use only yarn I have thrifted or been given to keep the cost low. I am making a sweater, no pattern, just going for it with half double crochets. I will likely not have enough white wool yarn to make both the front and back panel as well as the sleeves and ribbing. So I plan on making the front and back panel from my white wool, using a black wool for the ribbing of the collar and sleeves, and I would like to use this beautiful teal/sea foam/aqua alpaca yarn for the sleeves. The sweater would end up with a really pretty multicolored look that I really like, but does anyone know if I might have issues with mixing wool and alpaca?
Can I add lanolin to the sweater if the sleeves are alpaca? Will washing it (I plan on hand washing with wool detergent) be more difficult? Any answers from anyone would be great, thank you!
