PLEASE HELP! My first time getting acrylic nails.. I need help removing them..

I feel so silly about this but I cannot figure out how to remove my acrylic nails..

A few weeks ago I had a photoshoot and wanted to get my nails done (I've only had them done like 3 times and I'm 30). I've never had acrylics before but I love them!!! It was a huge confidence boost. But then the nails grew out and I needed them removed. I simply don't have the money for another set right now.

After looking on the internet here's what I did:

  1. clipped the nails -- this HURT! I could only do one..

  2. File off the glossy part

  3. Put hot water in a large bowl

  4. Put nail polish remover in a small bowl

  5. Soaked each hand for 30 minutes -- the nails were still attached.

  6. I spend about 3 hours soaking the nails, filing off the acrylics, soaking the nails, etc.

  7. I was able to cut off the tips
Final result? acrylics still on my nails, but filed down. My natural nails feel thin + beat up. I also tried putting cotton balls full of nail polish remover around each nail, wrapped in tin foil and it did not work either.

How do I properly and safely remove them? Any advice?
