Stranger Things and LOST
So LOST is my favorite show and I have rewatched it countless times. Spoilers for both LOST and Stranger things ahead.
I am currently working my way through season 5 of Stranger Things and I'm not enjoying it as much as I expected to, especially considering how much I liked season 4. I think it's a combination of the disappointing dialogue writing and the way in which there is just what feels like a chaotic mess of mythology , supernaturality, and convenient weirdness - while I also found myself caring less about the characters (that might be due to the 3.5 year wait between seasons).
My wife and I are not finished with it yet, but as I was expressing my disappointment to my wife and explaining the above reasons, she said "it's reminding me of how LOSTs final season was a little disappointing".
ARGH
I've been fuming ever since she said that. Her point of view is that the lost sideways is a contrived mythology just like stranger things, and I simply don't agree. The bardo is a creative choice and a reveal as we get through the season. Stranger things , on the other hand, is trying to fit a demodog, demogorgans, a giant spider monster, a Henry/vecna, the upside down, an evil US military, and apparently wormholes all together and these children are just making Scooby doo plans using duct tape and radio stations to save the world. I like stranger things, especially the first season, but I got really triggered when my wife looped LOST into the category of a final season disappointment.
Please bring me in being angry with my wife , or tell me if I'm wrong and I'll be fair and reasonable.
