To my fellow "Book Purests" what was your first impression of the musical?
You must have hated it, right?
Nah, I kid. But seriously though, in my opinion it is the strongest adaption of the TLT, and is likely to stay that way for a while. It's what got me to fall back in love with the series after dropping it at BOO.
Sure it takes liberties, the entire quest from medusa onwards is breezed through in an entire song. But I always felt like it captured the spirit of the characters. Oh yes, I think is even *gasps* improves on the source material.
Theres a scene in between "Their Sign" and "Put you in your Place" where Luke calls Annabeth out for spying, in what I assume is her using her hat, and she questions how Peryc showing up claiming to know nothing, but was able to take a minotaur. SHOWING there sibling dynamic pre-reveal, and Annabeths analytical mind at work So what did you think?
Percy will now get expelled from camp if her doesn't take this quest, now out of punishment, but out of survival, adding to his feelings of inferiority and belonging, leading into the banger "Good Kid"
Adding more into Annabeths over achieving strives to needing to be noticed, in another banger "My Grand Plan", as well as highlighting how shes bitter that Percy got a guest after days, when shes been working and training for 5 years.
And a song about Clarisse rallying the camp to war.
So im interesting to here what you thought about it?
