issues with projects

anyone else's chatgpt refuses to open project files lately?

mine relies way too heavily on context memory, so after it reads a file once, it just flatout refuses to open it again. it thinks it knows everything because it read it once, so if i make edits, i have to rename it so it bothers to even open it again.

other times, i ask it to open and read a file, and its completely wrong because theyre confusing it with something else they read before. i tell it no, its not that, instruct it to read it over for real this time and summarize it, and then it just quotes its own incorrect summary. even if i delete the chat, start a new one, and try again, sometimes it just tells me its incapable of reading a file and that it can only access it if i copy paste the context into the chat.

ive been using a different ai recently to get work done but i have no idea why this is happening. openai has no idea either, apparently. projects used to be more reliable for me but lately its been functionally useless.
