Apple Watch - Not UK region

Sharing this more as a warning for others thinking of buying an Apple Watch from CEX, as I don’t think there’s any point of resolving the matter for myself.

So I bough an Apple Watch on Sunday, it’s the series 7 45mm (GPS & Cellular) I only actually wanted it for tracking runs so got it at grade C for £80. I was actually surprised how good condition it was in for the grade, there was another of the same model that looked like it had been in a car crash.

Anyway, I was looking how to setup the cellular as I thought that would be great to avoid taking my phone on runs, it just doesn’t let me activate cellular in any way it’s blanked out and says “your model is not supported for this region” after a lot of confusion, thinking it was my network Vodafone being awkward I decided to good the model number and turns out I’ve been sold a North American model of the watch which means the cellular is completely useless in the UK.

You would think this is something the staff would be checking and advising of if they intend to sell them on. It’s a bit annoying but luckily I wasn’t purposely buying it with cellular in mind but crazy to think they are just dishing out watches without even checking these things.

TLDR - Apple Watch is from North America so the built in cellular will not work
