I'm really impressed with DK Bananza's creativity.
So, I actually hadn't gotten around to playing the game until around Christmas, so I'm only now experiencing it after hearing so much praise but also so much criticism from some sources about repetition.
While I can kind of see that with DK's moveset not really expanding too much beyond smashing stuff and what you can do with Bananza powers, one thing that has super impressed me is the creativity.
Like, the more you go down, the more creative the environments and enemies become. When I got to the Freeze Layer and Forest Layer, I was really blown away by the things they make you traverse to get to places as well as enemies that use the environment more. Not to mention all the different types of terrain they keep introducing like the bouncy ones and the ones that make you fly straight up.
It's just really impressive to me that, despite a simple premise, they really put a lot of creativity in the level design, enemies, and traversal in general. I've already seen enough that I consider this my GOTY despite the short time I've spent with it.
Thanks for listening! I just wanted to gush while the feeling was fresh. :)
