Am I overreacting to my best friend telling me when I’m done with my bf to send him her way?

👥 friendship

I (20f) met my best friend (18f) at school and we moved in together after being friends for a year. A couple of months before we became roommates, I started talking to my now bf (21m). I am white, my boyfriend is black, and my roommate is mixed. I think race may play a part in this story, so that’s why I’m including it (please let me know if it’s totally irrelevant).

While we were still just talking, my bf sent me a sexy pic of his abs in the mirror and of course I showed it to my best friend (because duh, that’s what college girls do). After I showed my friend she maked a face along the lines of raising her eyebrows and licking her lips, then said “when you’re done with him, send him my way.” Now, we weren’t dating at the time and I didn’t know if it would go anywhere so I kinda just laughed it off.

Following that, a little bit later, we were going shopping for our new apartment and the salesman at the store told me he recognized me from the gym my friend and I go to together. After we walked away, my friend turns to me and goes “why would he recognize you and not me? You’re just some basic white girl.” That kind of hurt my feelings, but I didn’t feel comfortable mentioning it because I felt like speaking out about my race was dumb because if that’s the most prejudice I face regarding the color of my skin, I’m lucky.

Once we moved in together and I started getting more serious with my boyfriend, my friend kept making jokes about us having a threesome, but always in ways that weren’t notable enough to point out in the moment. My friend is also very sexual and talks about stuff like that often.

The real issue that just happened is what makes these other instances stand out to me now. One of our mutual friends just told me that my friend has told multiple people that I don’t know how to take care of my boyfriend and she could take care of him much better. Mind you, my friend now has a boyfriend who is white.

I know it can be a common idea that white women are stealing black men from black women or something like that, but am I overreacting by thinking this could possibly be where this is coming from? Or do I just have a shitty friend? Or is she just overly sexual and weird?
