Looking for advice on an enclosed large 3D printer for office prototyping

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice from people with real hands-on experience. We’re currently prototyping hardware and need a 3D printer that can handle functional parts, not decorative prints.

What we want to print

We’re making custom components for a prototype, things like:

  • Mirror holders
  • Entry and exit slit parts for smartphones
  • Small pulleys and mechanical brackets

These need to be sturdy, accurate, and reliable.

Build size

Minimum we need is around 300 × 300 mm.
Bigger is better, ideally closer to 350 × 350 mm, but I know that gets harder in this price range.

Materials

We’ll be printing mostly PLA and Impact PLA. Strength matters more than fancy materials.

Enclosure and air quality

The printer will be in my office next to my computer, so an enclosed machine is required.
Ideally it has built-in filtration or at least allows upgrading or swapping the filter for a HEPA filter. I really don’t want fumes in a small office space.

Software and experience level

Models are designed in Blender and exported for printing.
I’m still fairly new to 3D printing, but my team can help with light setup or small mods if needed. We’re not looking for something that needs constant tweaking to work.

Noise

Moderate fan noise is fine as long as I can still take calls using noise-cancelling earbuds.

Budget

Around €500–750.

What I’m hoping to learn

  • Which printers in this size range actually hold up in real use
  • Any models to avoid
  • Tips on enclosure filtration that actually works
  • What you’d buy today if you were in my position

Thanks in advance. Happy to answer questions if I missed something.
